QuickBooks Online Features: September 2023

Intuit QuickBooks has several new features recently introduced to help you streamline your workflow, so let’s get right to it.

Pay Bills Inside QuickBooks Online

This feature has been in the works for quite a long time—and the Certum Solutions’ team is really glad it’s finally available. After all, who wants to manually pay bills when it the process can be automated? QuickBooks Bill Pay is ideal because you can now manage all of your bill payments inside QuickBooks.

While the ability for businesses to pay bills isn’t anything new—bank have had the ability for a long time—it is new in QuickBooks Online. Now, you can do any or all of the following (source: Intuit):

●      Upload or import invoices to prefill bills, so you can just review and save to your books.

●      Pay all types of bills, vendors, and contractors with one solution.

●      Track vendors and contractors who will need a 1099 issued at the end of the year, then easily file those 1099s with QuickBooks.

●      Assign user roles and permissions that empower your team to pay bills while limiting their access to the books.

●      Set up bill approval workflows that help you maintain checks and balances for your payments while automating your approval system.

The Certum team plans to work with all customers to help them understand this ability; we like it and know you will, too.

New invoicing for QuickBooks Online

Have you tried the new estimate and invoice layout for QuickBooks Online? Intuit reports that this new layout will be available in October, starting with QuickBooks Simple Start. The new layout enables you to preview what your customers see when they receive an invoice; that way, everyone is on the same page.

Payments’ Exception Cases: We can now Help You with These

Although this may not happen very frequently, we’ve seen cases in which you have open QuickBooks Payments’ exception cases. These include chargebacks and risk holds.

Before now, the Certum team could not track the status of the exception case or respond to it. Now, we can view your case files at the QuickBooks Resolution Center. As a result, we can find out the status of any open cases and help resolve them.

QuickBooks Payments ACH Transaction Cap is now $100,000

Also in the QuickBooks Online Payments area, customers previously had a $50,000 cap on any single ACH transaction. That meant that you would have to split a bill or make more than ACH payment; now, you can have a transaction up to $100,000. Note: This is not a cap increase and does not mean that all transactions below $100,000 will be approved.

Automated Setup From Other Payroll Programs

Certum Solutions has a lot of customers just like you who want to switch payroll programs. Of course, we can help you make the change, but now, switching to QuickBooks Online Payroll from another payroll solution is streamlined via batch imports from Gusto or ADP.
