Intuit finally did it. Since Covid hit, I’ve been anticipating some sort of change to Connect this year. Instead, QuickBooks Connect was completely cancelled. Cancelled is a strong word. Finito, done, no more.
Will we have QuickBooks Connect 2021?
I do believe that something else will take its place. Plus, there is a silver lining. QuickBooks ProAdvisors and those in the community who were unable to make QuickBooks Connect San Jose will hopefully get the chance to participate in virtual experiences that will enable more people to have some form of collective QuickBooks professional learning experience. Some of us rely on these experiences. Advanced Desktop Certification was difficult for me until I attended Dawn Brolin’s in-person class some years ago. Sometimes a recorded video just doesn’t cut it.
Remaining optimistic, I plan to continue watching the news and to include my team in whatever plans Intuit puts in place instead. Microsoft Ignite went virtual this year, so should we expect something similar? I am steadfastly hopeful that it will be an experience to bring us together during this current pandemic.
The full text of the email that went out last week is below:
Every year at QuickBooks Connect events around the world, we get the honor of meeting and celebrating thousands of the bravest small business owners and accounting professionals. For years, we’ve been inspired by how you all have learned from one another and embraced new ideas and technologies to move your businesses and the global economy forward.
However, as the global impact of COVID-19 continues to evolve, our first priority is your health. Therefore, we’ve decided to cancel this year’s event. While we’ll miss gathering in person for now, we remain dedicated to backing the world’s largest workforce by continuing to unite them around opportunities to connect, learn and be inspired.
Look out for more information as we reveal a variety of new experiences designed to help us shape a powerful next chapter together.
The QuickBooks Connect Team
The last sentence leaves me intrigued. “Next chapter” seems to infer that Connect will not be coming back, but as powerful an experience as that was, I am excited to learn what safe and inclusive ways Intuit will use in order to help all advisors, small business owners and developers continue to network and grow.
