Giving Back: Our Day Volunteering with the Council on Aging

At Certum Solutions, we’re committed to giving back to our local community in Monroe, NC, and supporting those who need it most. Recently, we had the pleasure of volunteering with the Council on Aging, a fantastic local organization dedicated to connecting volunteers with elderly residents who need a helping hand. This opportunity allowed us to make a meaningful impact and build connections right here in our neighborhood.

Helping Our Elderly Neighbor Mrs. Myrtle

Through the Council on Aging’s program, we were paired with Mrs. Myrtle, an elderly neighbor who could use some help sprucing up her yard. After connecting with Mrs. Myrtle to arrange a convenient time, we arrived ready to tackle the tasks she needed done: weeding, raking leaves, trimming bushes, and freshening up her garden with some new mulch.

Our team got to work clearing away weeds, tidying up the landscape, and trimming overgrown bushes. To add the finishing touch, we spread fresh mulch throughout the garden, bringing the yard back to life and making everything look clean and vibrant. The transformation was stunning, and the look of joy on Mrs. Myrtle's face when she saw the finished result was truly the highlight of our day.

Building Connections Beyond Yard Work

Volunteering isn’t just about completing tasks—it’s also about building relationships and fostering a sense of community. While we worked, we enjoyed talking with Mrs. Myrtle, who shared stories about her life and her love for gardening. It was an amazing reminder of the importance of taking time to connect with our neighbors and offer support where it's needed. Her happiness and gratitude were the most rewarding outcomes of the day.
